Of all of the apps we have, I am probably the most proud of the Bubble Bath language games. I spent so long learning Chinese Mandarin back in the day, that I knew there had to be a better way than flashcards to assist in character recognition.
We released Mandarin Bubble bath at the beginning of this year (and several other languages in the following months). People like the game, but we keep hearing the same suggestion — “you need to add more words”. True, 120 words is not a lot. Once you learn them all, you don’t really need the app.
New Feature: Create your own lessons!
Our developers have been working over the past few weeks to add a new feature to the Bubble Bath games– the ability to create new lessons and download other people’s lessons. Now, when learning a new set of vocabulary, you can open up the bubble bath game and create a new lesson of at least 10 words. Then, you can play the game and solidify your knowledge of them. Other people can download your lesson and use it to (and you can download theirs).
Downloading New Categories
When you open an app like Mandarin Bubble Bath, you will see two new categories (after swiping to the right) for “Create a course” and “Download a course”. Select “Download a Course” and you can see new categories uploaded by other users:
You can view them by most Most Popular or Recently added. You can search for a category by name or by Id (if your teacher gives you the id of a course). You can see from the screenshot above that I added a new category in Mandarin Bubble Bath called “MLB National League Names”. Select that course and download it. It shows up as a new bubble.
Now you can play the game with your custom word list:
Creating New Categories
If you are a teacher or just want to share what you are learning, you can create a new course that other students can download. Just select the “Create a Course” bubble and follow the instructions. You will need to create at least 10 words or phrases and record the audio pronunciation of that word. When you finish, you will given an ID that you can share with your friends or students.
If you are a language learner (and if you are not, you should be), check out this new feature. Create some lessons you can play. Let us know what you think.
